The London-born actor has admitted he is tired of hearing the N-word on TV and in cinema.

The 43-year-old actor has admitted he is tired of hearing the word used on camera, suggesting it has almost reached the point of becoming cliche.

He said: ''I am sick of seeing some historical show where it's all about black people and it's about slavery or it's all about civil rights. ''If you are going to do something historical with a lot of black people in it, let's use different stories and not just, 'Let's use the N-word over and over again'.

It's boring.'' The London-born star also addressed the problem of a lack of diversity on TV and in the movie business. He told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: ''It's not just about saying, 'Let's have more black people on TV'. You have to do something.''

Meanwhile, Idris - who has a teenage daughter with his ex-wife Kim - also revealed his parenting fear.

The 'Luther' actor shared: ''For a dad raising a young girl, one of the scariest things is seeing my daughter not sure. I would rather my daughter be able to say no.''
