Actress Terry Pheto named as juror for Emmys television awards

In just under a week‚ Terry Pheto will represent South Africa at the International Emmys in New York.

The 34-year-old award winning actress and producer‚ will attend the prestigious ceremony taking place from 21 — 23 November as a juror.

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF)‚ which will represent the South African film and television industry‚ was afforded the opportunity to host judging sessions. A handful of local film industry members’ profiles were then submitted by the NFVF and later confirmed by the International Emmy’s.

Pheto was selected as a juror based on the career strides she has made in recent years‚ as well as the impact and contribution she has made to the South African film and television industry.

“I am honoured to be a part of the juror panel for the International Emmys and am grateful to the NFVF for this opportunity to represent my country in the arts‚” said Pheto.

In addition to appearing on the American soapie‚ The Bold and The Beautiful‚ Pheto’s film Ayanda is currently being screened in various cities across the United States after she scored a distribution deal with Selma director‚ Ava Duvernay’s company Array.

2015 has certainly been a busy year for Pheto and she is showing no signs of slowing down.

She caught the attention of director Amma Asante and was subsequently cast in her international film called A United Kingdom. Pheto will star alongside Selma actor David Oyelewo and Gone Girl’s Rosamund Pike.
