AKA empowers female rappers with Baddest Remix

Rapper AKA has left it all in the hands of local female rappers in his much celebrated track Baddest Remix.

Here are things we loved from #BaddestRemix

AKA, real name Kiernaan Forbes, has been receiving a lot of thumbs up for giving female rappers - who are mostly overlooked in the industry - a platform to shine.

Fifi Cooper, Rouge, Nomuzi Mabena and Rogue came out guns blazing in the song proving to all that females can be at the forefront of the hip hop industry, especially now with the MTV Base Hottest MC top 10 list looming.

Skhanda Queen Nomuzi Mabena says "Got a call from Super Mega (AKA) and I knew it was a must, this song without the queen would really be unjust, haters can huff and puff make a real big fuss..."

Titling herself First Lady of Motswako rap, Fifi Cooper likens herself to the First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama and also raps about how she has been turned down by people in the industry but managed to make it still.

Gigi Lamayne starts off by talking about her being the baddest when it comes to writing but a 'queen' when she lays her raps into the beat. She continues and just before she starts rapping in Afrikaans says ".. better sharpen your flow before you challenge the ruler.."

Rouge says "... ain't looking for consigns, been jamming with Jiggie we getting high on them dope rhymes, my ex trying to reach me but ain't giving him no time, argh cute, he Blinging on my phone like that Hotline..."

In the lead up to the release, a behind the scenes video was released which showed us the work the rappers put into making the song as well as their experience working with AKA which saw the hashtag #BaddestRemix trending the whole day.

It should also be highlighted that the All Eyes On Me hitmaker did not rap in the song but only did the chorus (hook).

The rappers also bring in a flavour of their different indigenous languages ranging from SeTswana to Afrikaans.
