Toni Braxton & Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds kicked off the South African leg of their African tour with a bang at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban last night.

The award winning artists brought energy and charisma to the stage as they sang in separate and joint performances.

Babyface thrilled the audience with 'Someone to love' as well as popular songs he had written for other artists like Boyz ll Men's 'I'll Make Love To You' and Tevin Campbell's 'Can We Talk'.

Fans went wild as Babyface ran through the crowd and around the stadium to greet them during one of his songs.

Although there was a long wait between sets, the audience were equally excited to see Toni Braxton enter the stage.

Backed by two of her sisters, Braxton belted out 'He Wasn’t Man Enough', 'How Could an Angel Break My Heart' and several other hits as well as a cover of 'Between the Sheets'.

Braxton invited several fans onto the stage to help her during some of her songs including an elderly lady who was celebrating her 40th anniversary and a couple from the USA who followed her to South Africa to see her perform.

On her first visit to South Africa,  a shocked Toni was happy that the crowd knew all the words to her songs and sang along throughout her set.

She gratefully thanked the crowd for their support and explained how she almost quit singing after discovering she had Lupus, a chronic disease that causes the body's immune system to attack its tissues and organs, but through the support of Babyface, Lady Gaga and other good friends, she was able to pull though and continue doing what she loves.

"My doctor told me that I would never be able to perform again but God had other plans for me," she said.

Towards the end of the show Babyface joined Toni on stage to perform 'Hurt You' before Toni ending the night with a breathtaking performance of 'Unbreak My Heart'.

The duo will move on to perform in Cape Town at Grand Arena, Grandwest on September 1 before rounding off the tour in Johannesburg on September 3.
