American R&B crooner, August Alsina, has revealed that he has an eye disease which caused him to be partially blind.

August posted a picture of himself undergoing eye surgery on his Instagram. He had the surgery to save his vision.

In the picture we see his eyelids being held open by clamps and a green light shone into them.

August thanks God for being able to see and describes the experience of the surgery as “beyond painful”. Take a look at his heartfelt statement that came with the picture:

“So I have this eye disease.. Blind in my left, and losing vision in my right. In order to prevent my eyesight from deteriorating I had to do this surgery. This shit is beyond painful & Life be throwin' a nigxa curve balls but what I've gained from it all is priceless... A lot of things that are so natural to us in life (like waking up and being able to see ) we can take it for granted. Thank God the OG for allowing me to see.. The good the bad the ugly, I'm just glad to see.”

August was recently in South Africa as the opening act for Chris Brown’s African leg of the X-Tour Live concert.

August is well known for his hit song No Love.
