THIS is Somizi Mhlongo's year. After being added as a judge to Idols SA, he will now be heard on the airwaves of independent radio station CliffCentral.

"Well I' ve always wanted to do radio and CliffCentral is a good way to start my radio career.

"The station is unconventional and one of a kind because no one can report you to the BCCSA [Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa].

"So there's freedom to talk about anything," enthused the renowned choreographer.

Mhlongo told Sowetan that he believed this came at the right time.

"I believe everything happens in God's time, and I believe this is God showing himself in my life this year," he said.

Mhlongo will co-host The unView: Thin, Rich and Fabulous, an hour-long show on Thursdays.

He will appear alongside media personality Alan Ford and stylist Lorraine Maisel.

Rina Bloomberg of CliffCentral said the show will be talking about "anything and everything . and everyone".

"I've never worked with the two before but there was chemistry among the three of us in our first meeting. I'll bring that township character to the show. My co-presenters are also from different backgrounds.

"There's an element of entertainment missing on radio and I'll add that to the show. I'll do me," Mhlongo said.

Fellow Idols SA judge and owner of the station, Gareth Cliff, toasted Mhlongo's leap onto the airwaves.

"We're looking forward to Somizi joining our already colourful line-up of well-known personalities and aspiring new talent on CliffCentral," he said.

The show starts tomorrow between 11am and noon.
