From Class Act winner to unearthing talent

SDUMO Mtshali, pictured, was one of thousands of hopefuls who wished to become movie stars through Class Act, the talent search competition, which he eventually won.

Five years later, he sits as one of the four judges who'll be deciding which of the amateur actors will be going through to the semifinals of the MAQaMovie competition.

Speaking to Sowetan, the 32-year-old actor said he was glad to be roped in as one of the judges alongside Isibaya actress Nomzamo Mbatha, Rockville star Shona Ferguson and award-winning director Darrell Roodt.

"I think this is a great initiative  . the great thing about this competition is that it will also go to small towns," he said.

Mtshali, who won Class Act in 2010, says he'll be looking for people who are really passionate about telling South African stories.
