Bojo Mujo was a self-made man

PRETORIA house music legend Jacky Lehlake, pictured , will be buried in Modimolle, Limpopo tomorrow.

The 36-year-old was commonly known as Bojo Mujo.

He died following respiratory failure last week weekend, said his older brother and manager Sello "Cry" Lehlake.

Bojo Mujo was born in Modimolle on May 21 1978 where he lived until he was 11, when his family moved to Soshanguve, Pretoria.

He broke onto the music scene with his debut album, Siwelele in 2001, which he worked with DJ M'java.

His second album, Bojo Mujo Session 2, was also a success and featured hit song Summer Rain.

In 2012, Bojo Mujo released his last offering, The New Chapter .

"He had two projects, the Bojo Mujo Sessions and House Therapy. All in all, he had seven Bojo Mujo Sessions and five House Therapy collaborations," said Sello.

He said Bojo Mujo was a self-taught musician who connected the sound systems in the house and honed his skills at home.

He recorded his own music and played it on the streets before his big break.

His musical influences were house music twins Revolution, and top producer and record owner DJ Oskido.

Bojo Mujo leaves behind his mother, a 12-year-old son and three brothers.
