JOZI FM is in no rush to bring its controversial DJ Donald "Duck" Sebolai back on air.

Sebolai, who stands accused of murdering his girlfriend Rachel Dolly Tshabalala, 32, was released on a R10000 bail last week.

Tshabalala's body was found in Sebolai's locked flat in Jabulani, Soweto, on June 29 last year.

Yesterday, Sebolai, 37, told Sowetan that he desperately wanted to go back to radio because it was his life. "I missed listening to the radio and being behind the microphone because there was no radio in jail.

"I spent the past six months reading books, old newspapers and sometimes I would just stare at the blank prison walls," Sebolai said.

He said what helped him was motivational books and biographies that people brought him. One of the books he read was Chicken Soup for the Soul by various writers.

However, Jozi FM CEO Mpho Mhlongo has pointed out that as much as Sebolai is still on the books of the station, he would not return to present his show until his trial, which starts at Palm Ridge Court on February 9, is completed.

"Sebolai is employed on a freelance basis where he is paid for the work he did. This is a very sensitive matter that includes community, and we are serving the community."

Before the incident, Sebolai hosted Mid-Morning Church with Donald Duck from Monday to Thursday.
