Pastor Zondo asks church for forgiveness

The morning service was a great one for Pastor Zondo’s ‘Zero to hero’ church yesterday; congregants turned up in masses and the church even gained new members.

Controversial Pastor and motivational speaker Sthembiso Zondo, showed up at his church on Sunday following the shameful nude video that made the rounds on social media in the week.

Last week the pastor was caught in a video taken by a woman, walking around the house in his birthday suit, leaving social media aghast and tongues wagged in disbelief.

Congregant Wendy Miya says the church outcome was wonderful and church was fun.

“Church was great, a lot of people turned up at church and even new members pitched up, it was a normal Sunday,” she said.

The Pastor’s Ukhozi FM colleagues like DJ Sgqhemeza who hosts the Vuka Mzansi breakfast show on weekdays, were in attendance.

Gospel artist Fikile Mlombo rendered an item and other gospel groups performed as well.

Miya said Zondo who appeared shy at church, apologised to the congregation and admitted his faults.

“He apologised to the church. He said the video had been troubling him for a long time.”

“He was being blackmailed and there were threats of leaking the video, he knew it was going to happen,” she said.

The single controversial pastor told the Sowetan: “The girl threatened me from last year; she was not specific to exactly what she wanted from me.

“This year I have been receiving phone calls threatening me about the video every morning before I go on air. The painful thing is that if it was me (blackmailing) I would have been arrested.”

Zondo did not preach to the congregation on Sunday, guest speakers took over.

The Word of God at The Zero to Hero Church yesterday conveyed a message about Adam and Eve sinning before God.

Zondo will continue with his motivational talks on Ukhozi FM.
