Trompies have still got it

After more than two decades in the industry, Trompies remain one of the best our country has had to offer. We caught up with them for a quick Q & A.

The group has been together for more than 20 years, what keeps you going?

What keeps us going is the brotherhood. You need understanding, respect and passion to stay together for as long as we have.

What important lessons have you learnt from being in the entertainment industry?

What we've learned is that in this industry you are only as good as your last hit, you have to keep upgrading but at the same time not lose touch with yourself and your style.

Do you still enjoy live performances? Is the energy still there?

Most definitely, but it's more tiring now. Nothing beats a live performance because it keeps you in touch with the fans.

What do you think of the Buyelekhaya music festival which takes place in the Eastern Cape instead of Jozi like most events?

We have fans all over the country so they too need to get into the festive vibe.

What can your fans expect for you performance there?

Fans can expect the best of Trompies especially since we are celebrating 20 years in the industry and also not forgetting our fallen sister Lebo Mathosa with Magasman and all our other fallen artists who started the musical journey with us.

What has been the highlight of your career?

It has to be receiving the Metro FM Lifetime Award ‎and the Most Prolific Catalogue award from SAMBRO.

Any plans for next year?

We are currently working an album called Kwaito Revolution and other projects that you will hear about next year.
