THE Idols SA season 10 finalists have transcended setbacks life has thrown their way.

They have warmed the hearts of South Africans through their stories of perseverance.

Last night, Bongi Silinda, 24, of Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, and 29-year-old Vincent Bones of Eldorado Park emerged as the last two standing at the Pretoria State Theatre.

The pair have been crowd favourites from the start of the show and have sang their hearts out to be in the final.

Silinda's dream was almost derailed after she failed her first Idols audition at Carnival City.

That shattered her, but after a pep talk by her parents she succeeded on her second attempt at the Pretoria State Theatre.

Silinda worked with Vusi Mahlasela and Tshepo Mngoma, among others, as a backup vocalist.

Meanwhile, Bones, who was a street kid at 12 and touched the judges with his story of triumph which resonated with the public, auditioned at the Playhouse Theatre in Durban.

They were up against a fierce contender in 21-year-old Lize Mynhardt of Cape Town, who was eliminated last night.

But after surviving three near eliminations it was imminent that her journey would end soon.

The grand finale will be held on Sunday at Carnival City, Boksburg, where the winner of the title and prizes worth R1.2-million will be crowned.

Last night, the finalists performed their new tracks written especially for them and were released on iTunes at the end of the show.

Bongi's single is If I Got You and Bones's is Let Me Love.

The Graeme Watkins Project and Season 9 runner-up, Brendan Ledwaba, performed too.

Voting for the top two closes on Friday at 10pm.
