LEHASA Moloi was last night announced as the new ambassador for men's fragrance Joop! Homme.

At a bash hosted at Katy's Palace in northern Johannesburg, the Rockville actor took over from Maps Maponyane, whose year-long reign has ended.

Over the last month there has been a build-up with teaser ads and online clues on social media about the identity of the new face.

Moloi is the presenter of Sony's Mgongo Show on e.tv and is seen as an eligible bachelor commonly featured in "sexiest men" calendars, including the Sowetan Sexiest Celebrities.

Commenting on his new gig, Moloi said: "It's a huge honour because I'm a small-town boy with big-time dreams, and one of those has always been part of a fragrance campaign.

"I never thought I had the face or the body, but now to represent an international brand like this is a privilege."

Moloi recently released his first single for free download on his Twitter page and he secured a role in the film Spud.

He was born in Welkom and raised in Kroonstad, Free State. He was schooled in Joburg and furthered his studies in Cape Town.

During his reign, Moloi will represent the fragrance at various events.
