RADIO personality and Idols judge Gareth Cliff is playing a new role - but you won't see him doing it.

Cliff has been asked to lend his voice to the award-winning Disney cartoon network series Phineas and Ferb.

He will play Ducky Mo-Mo in the episode titled Tri-State Treasure: Boot of Secrets, to be aired on March16.

Cliff, who was approached in November last year, said he was partly attracted to the gig by the list of famous personalities who had worked on the series.

"I was amazed at how many high-profile stars were involved, from Jonathan Ross to David Beckham, and I thought, well, if they want me, then yeah!"

Known for his wacky sense of humour, Cliff admitted that he shared some common traits with his salesman character Ducky Mo-Mo.

"Well, he is a little annoying and a bit sarcastic but he's a great character," said Cliff.

He added that he identified more with the character Perry. "He is so cool. When I go to sleep at night I always imagine that I am going to wake up as a super-hero or an agent. It never happens, but it's worth trying," Cliff said.

He said the recordings took place in January and the session took about six hours.

The episode will air on Disney XD (DStv Channel 304). - mahopoz@sowetan.co.za
