Randy Crawford and Joe Sample make a date with SA fans

Oct 9, 2012 | Genevieve Kgafe | 7 comments

After wowing the crowds in June with long time friend and musician David Sanborn, Joe Sample returns to South Africa with musical soul mate and renowned songstress Randy Crawford. In a one night only live show at Carnival City.

ONE SHOW ONLY!!!! WHY? This will be one helluva gig. Sowetan fails to mention that Sanborn is one of the top sax-players around, with a wonderfully versatile portfolio. Combining his exquisite sax with Crawford's voice is something I would give a lot to experience. But no, once again a really great act is here for one show only - in Jo'burg. What a shame. They would play to packed houses in the Cape.

South Africa! Anyone who wants to make a quick comes here!!! Barrack Obama must organise a concert for all former stars to perform in the US in order to restore their ailing careers.

Why is our current local artist not treated accordingly here in Mzanzi?! I ike BOP; Pro(Verb &kid); Vetkat& Mahoota; and all of those artist including Unathi and the ugly Judith Sephuma!

Mopheme: Nobody is stopping you from going to their gigs. With respect, all thre of the people listed are legends in their own rights. This IN NO WAY means that SA artists are devalued. Not at all. But they don't travel from the states to be here, do they, and we see them whenever we want.

Mopheme> Understood, but let's not allow ourselves to become isolationist. We have GREAT artists here, for sure, but there are also great artists elsewhere. Let's not deny ourselves opportunities. I live in the Western Cape. Pitori is a bit far.
