Photography Consultant, Anna Mabaso, 26, is to go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Los Angeles, USA, in September 2012 to meet with award-winning musician Akon for the final episode in the current series of MTV Base Meets With... show.

Mabaso is one of just 8 young Africans who will meet the R&B performer and participate in MTV Base Meets Akon with MTN, the final episode of the youth empowerment TV series, which brings African youth face to face with the continent’s elite.

She will also take home a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and a Samsung Galaxy SII Smartphone as part of her prize, MTN said in a statement.

People who have featured in the show so far include supermodel Alek Wek, hip hop entrepreneur Russell Simmons and Togolese international footballer Emmanuel Adebayor.

Mabaso won the opportunity after entering a SMS competition run by MTV and MTN in South Africa.

“Though I entered this competition a few times, I never really thought I was going to win it considering how many people entered with the dream of personally meeting Akon,” Mabaso said.

“This is a dream come true and I have already got the most interesting questions to ask Akon and I can’t wait to meet him.”
