Our bottom three this week are Monde, Simphiwe and Shekhinah

SHE has been among the bottom three on two occasions, but sassy Mellisa Allison, a former member of the highly acclaimed South African version of High School Musical, refused to call it quits.

As the countdown began for the first black Idols SA in the history of M-Net's reality competition, with more than a million rand in prizes, the stakes are very high.

But that could be halted for a little while longer and the champagne can be put back in the fridge if sensual Melissa's gutsy performance is anything to go by.

She redeemed herself last night, in what could be described as her best performance of the entire season with her version of Rihanna's Where Have You Been, which brought her rave reviews - throwing the competition wide open.

The song brought her back into the game after being in the bottom half twice since the top 10.

She is up against the strongest contestants vocally, but her singing and choreography was spot on.

"I think this week is really going to work for you," Idols SA judge Randall Abrahams raved.

Idols SA host Proverb sent tongues wagging, when he called on Khaya and Tshidi to perform their songs, with their fans behind him.

Could he have prejudiced the other contestants?

But consistency paid off for Durbanite Khaya Mthethwa, with a fantastic Keri Hilson-Kanye West-Ne-Yo version of Knock You Down.

Tshidi Tenyane had the honour of closing the show in grand style.

She was definitely in her element with a show-stopper version of one of Beyoncé's greatest hits ever, Crazy In Love.

Will the judges to use their only save of the season tomorrow to protect the untouchables against elimination?

Our bottom three this week will be Monde, Simphiwe and Shekhinah "Sheki" Donnell.

Though they gave great performances they were up against the mighty vocals of their fellow contestants.

The voting lines for the Top 6 Spectacular closes today at 10pm.

The results of the vote will be announced in the live Top 6 Results Show tomorrow.
