Putini takes a big step

Aug 7, 2012 | Gezzy Sibisi | 9 comments

FOR Mpho Putini, who was born at Dawn Park in Benoni on the East Rand, inspiring young people to follow their dreams is her passion.

Mpho Putin

It was just a dream come true as it is perfectly aligned with what I know

The 25-year-old, who is also Jozi FM drive-time DJ, has just landed a TV break as the new presenter of Media Career Guide Show Season 3.

Moving from community to mainstream media is a career path that many spend years working towards. Putini will now be exposed to a larger audience.

The show, which starts later this month in prime time, will help viewers get information about media careers.

It will also help young viewers get into the industry through internships and job opportunities.

"It was just a dream come true as it is perfectly aligned with what I know," said an excited Putini.

The media graduate started her career as a sports presenter at Kasi FM. On finding her feet in radio she enrolled at Y-Academy where she did an internship.

She then joined Jozi FM as a sports presenter a few years ago.

She has worked her way up to being a drive-time radio host on a show called Sensation 3-6.

The rising young star has also had a few stunts in acting on shows like Muvhango, Rhythm City and Streets of Mangaung.

Apart from her busy schedule, Putini always finds time to go to township high schools and give motivational talks.

"I try as much as I can to reach out to the youth and I'm currently doing talks in schools in my neighbourhood," she says.

Putini finds great strength and inspiration from her late mother, Seipati Yvonne Putini, who she says she will always strive to make proud.

"She had so much faith in me and made me believe that I could do anything I put my mind to," she says confidently.

@ Mathopeed,
The article reads, I quote "The media graduate started her career as a sports presenter at Kasi FM. On finding her feet in radio she enrolled at Y-Academy where she did an internship".

Highligh the three words "The Media Graduate".
