Rapper Drake takes break to study

FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF SIPHO HOTSTIX MABUSE: The 'Make Me Proud' star plans to take a break from his career this summer and focus on completing his studies, revealed that he aims to obtain his high school diploma instead of making and performing his music.

He told website NowToronto.com: "I'm actually spending my summer graduating high school. That's my main focus after OVO Fest. I only have one credit left, and I'm really excited about that."

Drake is the headliner for the 3rd Annual OVO Fest in Toronto, Canada on Sunday, August 5, performing on stage with guest artists A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz and The Weeknd.

Drake recently picked up five nominations for this year's MTV Video Music Awards, including 'Video of the Year' for his track 'Take Care'.

The event will be held in Los Angeles on September 6.

His ex-girlfriend Rihanna and Drake lead the way with five nominations each.

They share a nomination in the Best Video category, for their collaboration 'Take Care', while Rihanna also has another nomination in the coveted section, for her 'We Found Love' single.

Also nominated for Best Video are Katy Perry for 'Wide Awake', Gotye for 'Somebody That I Used To Know' and M.I.A. for her song 'Bad Girls'.
