Stepping up to stardom

How winners are handling their finances

Step Up or Step Out season two winners are making wise choices in spending their R80,000, while last year's winners, Stunners, thought sharing R50,000 of the R60,000 prize money among themselves was the best thing to do.

The e.tv dance show finale was held in Johannesburg on Sunday.

This year's winners, Tembisa Revolution from Tembisa in the East Rand, took home a whopping R80,000. Each crew member was also given a scooter.

Group leader Moses Moeng said they were planning to empower each member with skills.

"We understand that we must be disciplined and have decided to send each member of the group to further their studies," Moeng said.

"We all have matric, and going to school to learn about business is the only way the group can grow."

Tembisa Revolution is also using their fame to motivate children in their local schools.

Stunners were from Orange Farm. The group was this year's guest-host during the show's finale. Stunners spokesman Thabang Leshoro said they bought uniforms for the group with part of the R60,000 they won last year.

"After buying the uniforms, we shared the rest among the five of us - each getting R10,000," Leshoro said.

Tembisa Revolution have already received invitations to perform at different shows.
