Nollywood invasion coming to Mzansi
LOCAL Nollywood film buffs will be treated to some Nigerian entertainment as four blockbusters hit South African cinemas this week.
The features boast the on-screen talents of Patience Ozokwor, Van Vicker, Chinwe Isaac, Deborah King and a host of others.
Untamed , Spirit of the Assassin , Off the Hook and Inale are the titles that will premiere amid much glamour at the Maponya Mall in Soweto, on Thursday.
The Nollywood quartet will then show at other Ster-Kinekor cinemas.
The films will also make rounds in Lesotho and Zambia.
Mmadipotwana Productions' Moleboheng Matli says Spirit of the Assassin is an action-packed thriller, which tries to unravel the mysteries surrounding several high-profile assassinations in and outside of Nigeria.
The feature is directed by Andy Boyo and co-produced by Kingsley Esele, Bunmi Okeafor and Faith Stephen.
Matli says Untamed critically examines the somewhat inglorious and vexed issue of same-sex marriage in African society.
"The highly controversial movie is full of unusual romance and love scenes.
"It will definitely thrill and enthrall South Africans because it features Nollywood faces they have learnt to love to hate," she said.
Matli adds that Inale, which means beauty, is an enchanting and fascinating musical feature from the heart of Africa to the rest of the world.
"Inale vividly captures the heart-rending story of two communities and their many trials and tribulations in trying to achieve and maintain a peaceful coexistence.
"It also dissects and proffers solutions to the recurring issues of communal tensions, conflicts and challenges in modern societies.
"Above all, Inale tells the story of true love and how it should be used for the good of the society."
Matli says Off the Hook is a riveting romantic comedy with a psychiatric setting and didactic interplays.
"These movies are sure to keep Nollywood movie lovers on the edge of their cinema seats," she said.
The red carpet premiere and launch will be attended by some of the Nollywood actors.
The per invite only event starts at 6pm.

I dont have the patience of watching a Nigerian movie. I find them to be excessively prolonged and more often they lose the plot. Imagine having to watch Part I,II,III. Hai bo, I refuse to watch a person driving for fifteen minutes by the countryside and I do not like listening to their unven digital sounds and echo.Report Abuse

@ tpazRead my post thoroughly. I did not say a person is walking for five minutes and that is the reason why they lose the plot. They lose the plot because in the many parts of the movie( Part I,II,III) often one cannot make a connection of what other scenes in the movie have to do with the story at hand, hence I said they often lose the plot.
