The 21-year-old singer is thrilled to be signed to the rap mogul's Roc Nation label because he is so supportive and gave her time to develop as an artist.

She said: "He's a great boss. It's like family.

"Jay cares about his artists, his business and people's feelings. That's what sets him apart from everyone else.

"They gave me three years to do my album; two years to find myself and a year to record it.

"People don't usually do that nowadays because, realistically, there's no money, but I guess he just believed in me."

Rita hopes her music will be a hit with fans and she hopes they can "appreciate" her efforts.

She added to More magazine: "At the end of this year I would like to have my face on people's shelves. I'd just like for them to buy my album and to appreciate and love music like I do.

"I love the fact that people want to support me and come to my gigs and have fun with my music. We can just all have fun together."
