No love lost in 4 Play

4 Play; Sex Tips for Girls has not lost its sparkling, glorious appeal and this season promises even more sex and sassy scenes, which is why viewers should not take it seriously when they deal with their own love lives on the ground.

The drama series is back with season 3 and one thing that has not changed is watching women confused about their love lives.

Hailing from different walks of life, these four women seem to be the victims of their own doings and it does not seem that this self-inflicted sabotage will be resolved. As far as this series is concerned, no man is good enough for these women.

Danny, played by Tiffany Jones-Barbuzano, does not put on the brakes in shagging every man she comes into contact with and dumping them afterwards.

Mbali Maphumulo, who plays the brainless 30-year-old musician Amira Mokoena, does not know when to believe or not believe what men say except when misinterpreting everything they whisper in her ear on her own terms.

"Like every woman, Amira is confused when it comes to her love life, she cannot show you a good man even if he stared her in her face," Maphumulo says.

Men are portrayed as good, but not good enough for these women. Does this mean every woman envies another woman's man and in the process loses perspective of what their own men have?

Nox Madondo, played by Kgomotso Christopher, is a "too serious" woman who still has to realise life cannot be bought by credit cards.

Xolile Tshabalala, who has replaced Portia Gumede as the character Noma Mkhize, says all the "women have demons", they have this "ideal man" syndrome and "it breaks every woman's heart".

"Women keep looking for that perfect man, but that man is living with them in the house, they share the bed with him. We don't realise that there are still good men out there," Tshabalala says.

Ironically, Maphumulo blames the media for this misconception. She says the media often tells you what a good man should look like, what he should drive, what he should eat, how he should treat a woman and, for her, that is the problem.

But all is not gloom and doom on the 4 Play set - the cast still boast glorious looks and are inspiring to young girls who want to be career women.
