Band will perform in America, Britain and elsewhere in Europe as their new album "Journey through the Shadows" comes out

Award-winning South African band The Parlotones will perform two shows in Brakpan over the weekend before heading off on a world tour, Carnival City says.

The band would perform at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena on April 21 and 22, spokeswoman Jeni Fletcher said in a statement.

Tickets were available from Computicket ranging between R161 and R212.

“After playing to local audiences the band will head off to the US in May for a 27-city tour, followed by Britain and Europe.”

The tour comes ahead of the release of their fourth studio album at the beginning of May.

“Recorded in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, the album offers fans 12 brand new melodic rock tracks.”

Lead singer Kahn Morbee explained the title of the new album, "Journey through the Shadows”, was a metaphor for the human experience.

“You’re not given a guidebook or map at birth that guarantees the smoothest path,” Morbee said in a statement.

“Ultimately, we all walk through with a candle that only allows us to see so far in front of ourselves. You never know what’s around the corner, so it’s an analogy for life.”

The four-member band consists of Morbee on vocals and guitar, Neil Pauw on drums, Paul Hodgson on guitar, and Glen Hodgson on bass, piano and backing vocals.
