Generations actor helping aspiring stars hit big time

AFTER gracing television screens for six years as Samuel Khumalo in the popular SABC 1 soapie Generations, Thabiso Mokhethi is now helping aspiring entertainers hit the big time.

Mokhethi has started a company called Living Righteousness Entertainment aimed at mentoring aspiring entertainers using the experience he earned while working as a brand ambassador, presenter and actor.

"It's an events and artist management company. It's also a management consultancy," he explains.

The Agape presenter recalled how difficult it was for him to break into the entertainment industry without the help of a talent agent, and would like to support other talented individuals in their pursuits in the industry.

"I realised that other young people from rural areas and townships don't know about these opportunities. And some of these people are very talented and they have no one there to help nurture and guide them in the industry," he says.

The religious actor wants to instil some moral values into the talent because religion played a large part in his career and life.

"We're not only going to represent artists but we're also going to teach them moral values," Mokhethi says.

"LRE is basically a culmination of me bringing God back into the entertainment industry because God has been by my side."

The departure of Sharon and Samuel from Generations came as a shock to many fans who have grown accustomed to seeing the lovely couple on their screens.

"After six years being on Generations and having my contract renewed every year, when it was time to renew contracts this year, I was informed that my contract would not be renewed," the father of two says.

"Because they were changing the faces of Generations, they wanted to give fresh talent a break."

Mokhethi insists it is the norm in the industry and says it could not have come at a better time for him because he was already feeling the fire under his feet to try and spread his wings.

The actor, who is also an ambassador for Mpumalanga tourism, says he is still "open for business" as an actor and his fans will probably be seeing him on TV screens soon.
