Fab event to benefit HIV-Aids

CELEBRITIES are expected to come together at a posh charity gala in Johannesburg next Friday in support of people infected and affected by HIV-Aids.

The event - themed Fighting Aids Beautifully - is an attempt to steer people’s perceptions away from the stereotypical notion that HIV-Aids mostly affects the poverty-stricken and underprivileged among us.

Scheduled for the Vilamoura Supperclub in the Sandton Sun Hotel, this Event – organized by the Ntsaluba Foundation, Celebrity Cherubs Charity-Aid and M-Net Cares – seeks to create a platform for the alleviation of socio-economic crises that are associated withthe disease.

The Fighting Aids Beautifully and the cause it supports, is aligned to M-Net’s CSI strategy, which is rooted in the philosophy of sustainable change. The event aims to raise funds for education and empowerment of our youth in fighting against the pandemic. The funds raised will provide assistance to beneficiaries that care for HIV/AIDS orphans and infected children.”  Said Mnet’s Marketing Director, Koo Govender

Hosting the event for the evening will be Tyrone Keogh, who plays Jack in the M-Net soapie, The Wild, appearing as head a ranger, and has been selected as one of the Top 10 sexiest males on TV for Cleo magazine’s November issue.

He is also on TV Plus’s hotlist, as well as the 2012 Cosmopolitan’s Sexiest Men Calendar. “I'm honoured to be associated with the FAB event, raising funds and awareness for the TNF on World Aids Day.

"The calibre of auction items is far beyond the average Charity Event, and any self respecting sporting memorabilia collector shouldn't miss the chance to bid on the pieces." explains Keogh

"It is going to be a fun-filled night and a great opportunity for corporates to get behind a Charity that's making a real difference to the lives of so many South Africans.  So open your hearts and show your support for this great cause by booking your table at the FAB event.” said Tyrone Keogh

He will share the stage with television and film actress and Celebrity Cherubs Charity –Aid founder and survivor SA Maldives constant Carmel Fisher. Fisher, who is fresh from shooting a movie based on the plight of Rhinos in South Africa.

The Ntshulisa Foundation will be the beneficiary for the evening. Over the years the foundation has been associated with several orphanages and homes for children all over the country. Ntshulisa foundation has made a positive impact in the communities where they have a presence.

“TNF tries to reach as many underprivileged children as possible each year and it is through our annual fundraiser, Fighting AIDS Beautifully, that we are able to raise funds for our work and at the same time we can raise awareness around the issues we deal with on a daily basis. As we approach World AIDS Day on 1 December, we hope that everyone will come out to show their support !” explains Karissa Samuel, Director of The Ntshulisa Foundation

The prestigious event is held annually with live entertainment, comedy, auction in aid of raising awareness and funds for the foundation. Celebrated SA Fashion Designers JJ Schoeman & Gert- Johan Coetzee also jumped at the opportunity to support FAB and aptly designed FAB T-shirts to add to the auction on the night. The evening will be serenaded by the sounds Idols finalists Freddy van Dango and Lifa Pike collaborating for the first time.
