Aspiring Miss Teen has point to prove

MISS SA Teen finalist Aseza Matanzima has a point to prove.

The 1.7m tall beauty from Port Elizabeth in Eastern Cape will be at the Sun City Superbowl on December 10, eager to prove that she is not in the final of the famous pageant by fluke.

Aseza is one of the 12 contestants who have made it to the final.

She strongly believes she has what it takes to wear the crown this season.

At 17, Aseza has achieved a lot in life for her age. She is the reigning Miss East Cape 2011 queen and was the runner-up at the Miss Pizzazz 2011 modelling competition.

"My family has been very supportive during this whole process, and I'm extremely fortunate to have such a family," a confident Aseza said.

Despite her hectic modelling commitments, Aseza takes pride in her school work.

"I believe school work is one of those things a pupil needs to take seriously.

"With all the distractions of social networks and the rapid growth of technology, it is not easy to concentrate on your studies, but we should not allow these things to sway our attention from our books."

Aseza said she was thrilled and honoured to be one of the contestants to come from Eastern Cape. She is regarded as a role model by her peers in her province.

Speaking about the pageant, she said: "I know I will learn a lot from the contest. It is going to be a great opportunity for me to showcase my strong character," she said.

Aseza has always dedicated her time to charitable causes.

"Raising money to alleviate the plight of kids from Dora Nginza Hospital in Port Elizabeth has always been my priority," she said.

"Doing activities like painting the wards, making children comfortable in their wards, donating toys and anything that will lighten up their spirits inspire me," says Aseza, who is a professional hockey player.

Sun International PR executive Sue Klerck said: "The Miss SA Teen pageant brings a welcome youthful dimension in contrast to the more glamorous Miss SA."
