Glory galore at Crown Awards

THE 4th SABC Gospel Crown Awards, held at Durban's Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre yesterday, produced plenty of surprises while gospel fans got a treat of their lives.

The late Vuyo Mokoena, who died in 2008, was also honoured for his contribution to the genre.

The event, which was attended by the country's socialites and ministers, lived up to all expectations with vibrant performances from artists.

One of the major surprises at the event was the failure of KwaZulu-Natal artist Sifiso Ncwane to win an award after being nominated in three categories.

The glory went to Thembisa artist Solly Mahlangu, who took three of the most sought-after awards, including best male, best gospel artist and best song.

Another highlight of the event was the awarding of the Life Achievement Award to talent scout and director Lindelani Mkhize for his contribution to the industry.
