New kid on the block, Zahara, has done it again, this time being nominated several times for the Metro FM Music Awards which will be held on November 26 at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. Antonio Muchave and Philani Dlamini were there to give us the low-down

The young muso from East London surprised many when she got nominated for 4 categories last night (Wednesday)  at the Pyramids Conference Centre in Johannesburg.

Zahara has been nominated as the Best Newcomer, Best Produced Album, Best Female Album and Song of the Year for Loliwe, her debut album.

Zahara’s unique sound has earned her a great respect among the people. Her debut album Loliwe has been so well received that it is said Loliwe sold 250,000 units within weeks of its release, proving that South African music can still sell.

To add flavour into the excitement is the fact that in some categories, she is against reputable artists like Lira and Jimmy Dludlu, who also commands great respect in the industry.

Other nominations include a new house music group, Micasa, with their debut album These Streets.  They've been nominated in 5 categories.

Big Nuz also got 4 nominations for their new album Pound for Pound.

The nominees who were chosen this week will still be trimmed down at the finalist announcement event that will take place on November 3.
