SOUTH AFRICAN actor Luclay Misoya says that although he did not win the money in the Big Brother show, he is happy that he won the hearts of so many people
His fans, including radio DJs Sbu Leope and Dineo Ranaka, say they were disappointed that he was not crowned winner of the Big Brother reality show.
"I saw the disappointment on my fans' faces when I left the stage. Some were crying. I hugged many in a bid to try and lift the mood again.
"I never failed. I am a champion and no one can ever take that away from me," he said a day after the shocking announcement was made.
"This is not just about me. It's also about people who believed in me. People who are extremely unhappy.
"Decisions were made. People who came out to the after-party celebrated with me. I am the real winner," Luclay said.
Luclay's eviction left Nigerian model Karen Igho and Zimbabwean commercial pilot Wendall Parson as this year's biggest winners of the reality show.
Beating five other housemates, Wendall, 23, and Karen, 27, were named the winners of about R1.3-million each.
Social networks Twitter and Facebook, as well as the Sowetan website, were abuzz with comments from avid followers.
Leope tweeted last night: "R1,3m is nothing compared to the amount of media/pr coverage and what Luclay is goin to become after this ... BigUp boy we proud of U". (sic)
Luclay's fans are now calling for an audit to be done and said they were willing to donate some money to the "real BBA winner".
"Even if the money does not come to R1,3million, we still want to give him something. He represented South Africa well and deserved to win," Connie Kganakga said.
Sibusiso Mpum wrote on Facebook: "Admin pls open an acc for Luclay, we will gladly deposit our monies to that account. Just to reward our golden boy.
"Please guys we can make a difference. We will not be undermined by mnet and their show ... BROKEN HEART." (sic)
There are also calls to boycott the show.
Brian Mhlakaza wrote: "we dnt want ths bigbrothe nigeria on our screens again! gv luclay hz money or else hell wil break loose!" (sic)
Sowetan blogger emanology wrote: "That was robbery in the presence of millions of witnesses! How on earth do you crown Wendall ahead of Luclay? INSANE ... Big Brother must just go to HELL." (sic)
