Makgalema makes his mark in gospel

Started singing at the age of five, studied theology - and now he is releasing his debut album

BEFORE television viewers were introduced to the reality music show I Want to Sing Gospel people knew nothing about Kgotso Makgalema.

Now a professional gospel musician, he is among the young musicians whose talent was unearthed by the SABC2 reality show in 2008.

Makgalema comes from Sebokeng in the Vaal and was one of the few competitors who made the show exciting. He reached the top four before he was eliminated.

After the elimination all recording companies and scouts who watched the show were competing for his signature. But it was Spirit Music that won the heart of this vocally talented gospel singer.

Makgalema has just released his debut album. In The Beginning. On March 12 he will be shooting his first live DVD at Rivers of Living Waters Ministries in Evaton, Sebokeng.

Musicians such as Zaza Mokhethi and Pastor Solly Mahlangu will share the stage with him. He has shared the stage with musicians such as Israel Houghton, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Keke Phoofolo, Pastor Solly Mahlangu, Benjamin Dube and Hlengiwe Mhlaba.

Having started singing at the age of five, he first took the lead in a church choir in 2003 and duties such as youth leader and resident youth pastor.

Makgalema went on to study theology in 2006 at Faith Bible College and at the School of Apostles in Pretoria. He joined Joyous Celebration in 2009 but left in 2010 to open the Fountain of Life in Vanderbijlpark.

Just be yourself Kgotso coz u have what it takes. I just hate it when you exaggerate and/or fake someone's style and personality coz you normally like doing that. You may not be aware but some of us see what you are trying to do sometimes. Anyway, all the best Pastor and be a real PASTOR coz boPastor ha le tshepahale. You preach something else but u don't practice that. Ko di corneng BOFEBE, BOTSOTSI, ETC ke ntho tse le tummeng ka tsona. Hope you wont disappoint us.

I love the Vaal artists they develop fast, Kgotso made it in the gospel music in a short space of time. Please as you give your best lets remember that God need to exist in totality to all your albums or songs. What i love ntate ka wena is that you love God and you speak of him proudly.

I will be there to support you and this means i pledge myself to support any show you do but only if it benefits you direct for now. Though Kgotso i would love if all Vaal gospel artists could meet and do one show to honour our mighty God for the favour we receive from Him daily.
