Life Above All scores big

THE FILM 'Life Above All' won six awards at the SA Film and Television Awards at the Madamme Zingara Theatre, Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, last night.

The feature film garnered six awards at the ceremony attended by the heavyweights of the local film and television industry.

The feature film was nominated in 11 categories and won Best Feature Film, Best Feature Film Actress in which Khomotso Manyaka won, Best Feature Film Supporting Actress which garnered Harriet Manamela an award and Best Feature Film Ensemble.

Oliver Schmits Won the Best Director Award.

Themba Ndaba, for his effort, won the Best Actor category for his role in Hopeville, another South African film that made waves when it was flighted on television.

The winner of the Best Drama category was Erfondes.

Tshepo Maseko won Best Soapie Actor for his role as Parsons in the soapie Isidingo.

Moshidi Motshegwa won the Best Actress Award for her role as Naomi in Rhythim City, an e.tv soapie.

"Congratulations to all the winners. The judges worked tirelessly to ensure that the best South African film and television talent is honoured and celebrated," Eddie Mbalo, outgoing chief executive of the National Film and Video Foundation, organisers of the awards, said.

Last night's ceremony was for the fiction categories, the non-fiction categories having taken place last Sunday at the same venue.

Wow, I love Naomi's character - she did that with passion...Welldone Gal....
Mara as for Parsons - aowa....ga ke dumele at all.

Lenna kea gana when it comes to Parsons!! What happened to the likes of Jamie Bartlett(David Genaro) and (Sello Maake-ka Ncube)Daniel Nyathi??? I mean the Parsons character hasn't been that active this past year. Moshidi yena definately deserves the award;she was amazing.
