Soweto folk can see comedy for free

CHRISTMAS has come early for the people of Soweto. NU Metro Home Entertainment will screen the American comedy Get him to the Greek for free.

The once-off screening will be on Thursday November 25 at Ster-Kinekor at the Maponya Mall.

The movie premiered internationally in June. It will not be screened in local cinemas but will be available countrywide on DVD from November 29.

Written by Nicholas Stoller and Rodney Rothman, Get him to the Greekstars Jonah Hill, Russell Brand, Elisabeth Moss and Sean Combs, aka P Diddy.

The hilarious story revolves around rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) who releases an album, African Child, and an accompanying single.

The song and music video flop dismally, is banned and called "the worst thing to happen to Africa since apartheid" - among other things..

Snow's girlfriend, Jackie Q (Rose Byrn), ditches him and takes their son Naples with her .

This results in Snow hitting rock bottom, drinking excessively and doing drugs.
