Ray is back with a bang
SABC1's beloved general manager Ray Nkwe is back. This means those glamorous SABC1 parties, drama and gossip are back too.
Nkwe, who has been absent for about two years, announced his comeback on Thursday with a hip Mzansi Fo Sho Reloaded party at the Atlas Studios in Millpark.
During his absence he acted as group executive of Commercial Enterprises after the suspension of Gab Mampone.
Nkwe said he was bringing "sexy and vibe back to SABC1".
"We are a sexy brand but because of the recession we had to defer some ideas. We are back with a bang. We will tell it like it is and apologise later."
Nkwe said the station was going to create new celebrities through new programmes and schedule improvement. He said they were going to reintroduce continuity presenters.
"The change is aimed at strengthening our historic bond with our television audiences and ensuring that the brand is taken back to the public in a fresh and more exciting way. Among other changes, Selimathunzi which has been in the 6pm slot on Saturdays, has moved to 6.30pm on Wednesdays.
"Selimathunzi is going to be sexier, with the focus on red-carpet events."
Nkwe said that Rise Mzansi on Tuesdays is getting interesting, with the young entrepreneurs cat fighting.
More big news is that The Real Goboza is making a return with new hot presenters.
"We are launching Relentless, a brand-new R10million reality show which is the most expensive reality show ever made in Africa. We will also give financial support to Metro FM Awards, Stars of Mzansi, the Gospel Awards and the Samas."
