Mbeki's biggest mistake, after the AIDS denialism, was not to nurture and " anoint" a leader to replace him. The sad part was that Thabo Mbeki was wrongly advised by people who could have replaced him as presidents to stand for a third term as president of the ANC. Mbeki my President!!!
For as long as we have leaders who are of the notion that all that glitters is by default entitled to them just because of the position/office they hold in politics, then we might as well forget about living in a fair, equal opportunity, economically well-balanced and nkandla & Juju free SA.
Gone are the days of smear campaigns and sabotage plots...where people actually had to apply their intellectual, cunning & survival abilities to keep politics interesting.....nowadays you hand a comrade a gun to shoot themselves in the foot and as expected they never dissapoint afterwards other comrades will hand the bleeding comrade a first-aid kit & even help him wrap a bandage in full view of the public......Then you'll be expected to still support the very limping comrade who clearly will shoot the other foot, hand, hell even their behinds (but for some reason they keep missing the head) should the opportunity present itself then you tell me such people are defined as leaders.....my leaders???...my 5 year old has more sense.!!!
Granted there was darkness before light but in our case I believe our light is slowly fading & it's not even a question of who will bring that long awaited everlasting, bright-burning candle but a question of when & will he/she ever have the opportunity to light it!!!

Do me a favour and depict unfounded rumour and lies in my posting.
There are many bad things & bad decisions that TM make & took, but in the same breath there are a couple of good things that we did. I'm sick of people depicting JZ as total failer when there are certain good things things that he has done. For example, for the first time in the history of this country, we have a National Development Plan. Instead of the media getting us as citizen to engage on this plan, they totally ignor it and bombard us with Malema & ANC Youth League. All the critical issues that are raised by everyone on a daily basis are contained in the Plan. From eduction, to health, to crime and so forth, why are we not using this Plan as basis for finding long lasting solutions to this crisis.
Let me tell you, all you doomsayers, for as long as we are still having a constitution that has clause like "Property Clause" in its current from, no President, I dont care whether he has a degree from some university in london or not, will get SA in the right course. ......And people may say Malema is a better fighter than Mbeki but let's not forget that there are people who have the unquestionable ability to start wars but it takes a lot of strategy, planning and impeccable timing to actually win & finish one....the only dillema here is as South Africans which one of these character traits do we value most??

So, you are trying to justify what is happening now? Pathetic!
Travelgate: I thought ANC MPs were dealt with but defintely no different from how Britain dealt with its own scandal in the House of Commons. This whole thing does not have naything to do with Mbeki. If you step out and it sarts raining, it does not mean that you have anything to do with it.
Oilgate scandal: How does it have anything to do with Mbeki?
Violence in Khutsong. There were people in Merafeng who were happy to be part of North-West. Borders are always complicated.
Biggest public servants' strike ever. So where is the crime? Mbeki did not just give in to demands. He knew he was dealing with taxpayers' money and that budgets had to be balanced.
Armsdeal. He was president. How can you allow .........(What the hell are you talking about? Stick to what you know; nothing)
AIDS denialism? That is what it is simplistically called by ignoramuses? First, I think it was probably to question the link between HIV and AIDS in public, but that is exactly how genuine research projects start; by questioning convention. The HIV and AIDS debate is still going on regardless of the silence in SA. And there are enough award-winning researchers and scientists on both sides. Research is always about investigating the causal link between between factors. For instance, if the crime stats fall in 5 years time, one would simplistically think that it had something to do with police action and police may well want to take credit. But from a researcher's point of view, that may not well be the case. It could have been other factors. And that is the question the researcher has to find answers to; what are these factors. Without these research answers, there is always misallocation of resources and that is why nations and economies fail. Report Abuse

The sad part was that Thabo Mbeki was wrongly advised by people who could have replaced him as presidents to stand for a third term as president of the ANC. We all make mistakes and I think like a gentleman he took the defeat right on the chin and did not throw any toys out of the cot. Most of us agree that he made a far better president than JG Zuma. For some of us ANC sympathizers JG Zuma has been an embarrassment. Zuma's stupidity has nothing whatsoever to do with his lack of formalized education. Mbeki my President!!!For as long as we have leaders who are of the notion that all that glitters is by default entitled to them just because of the position/office they hold in politics, then we might as well forget about living in a fair, equal opportunity, economically well-balanced and nkandla & Juju free SA.
I TRULY HOPE FOR OUR COUNTRY & FUTURE'S SAKE IT'S SOON!!!

Tasto-Do me a favour and depict unfounded rumour and lies in my posting.
Instead of exposing your backgrounds in terms of insulting adults, debate and engage on the National Development Plan.

@bon-79-21 - I wonder if you know this "National Development Plan" for your information most countires around the world do have some form of National Development Plan. But in south Africa its talking abt de-racialising the economy and demography sound like social engeneering like Hitler 3rd Reich regime. We were&are insulated from recession because of the ecomomic policies adopted during TMbeki tenure e,g NCR act!!
JZ does evn know rhe meaning of minietrial handbook, it took him more than 8 moths after taking office as president of SA to declare his business interest done for him by his Apartheid Lawyer Huley the same lawyer of WouterBasson and probably Clive Derby-Lewis and other rightwingers!!

Under TM we never had this country wide violent protest and this sky rocketed corruption that is done publicly while the cultprits are connected to the press himself and nothing is done abt that

Mporoz and Zuma knows best on what to do_Yes we want Mbeki back. Yes We believe he has more to offer than the current ANC leadership. Yes He has more to advise us on our current economy stand. Currently we are in a blink of losing intenational confidence and having Mbeki to support and give us advise will help us win back international standing. Yes we need Mbeki. Any normal thinking person will know it. He may say he doesnt know what to do and that is based on the current mess Zuma has created. This country is in a state of decay. People are losing jobs, small businesses have closed, Everything is going up, Companies are not making enough profits because people are not spending as much. Credit has literally shut down because everyone is on credit bureaux. On top of that out TAX is being misused. We need to ask TM to help us, Right now he is our only hopeReport Abuse

@Mporoz those were white doctors who came up with the findings_And honestly what has that got to do with the government and failure to manage this country. Yes this country has potential but is it only Science finding that we should celebrate. Things are quickly falling apart, look at the potholes, the poor service at local governmnet, corruption in police service, the rising costs of living, Telkom wants to hike electricity by 16%_We need financial planners, we need intellects, soon grandparents wont have access to grants and what will happen to those children and families, As much as you think this is about hating Zuma you need to realise it has nothing to do with Zuma but this country and its people! Zuma must step down,Report Abuse

...Motlanthe thinks this is a good move to align himself with Mbeki, Malema, Madikizela and Phosa.....HiHiHi.....

@IndigenousNconservativeThe influx of immigrants was out of control long before Mbeki became the president.I remember when Mongosuthu objected when he was still Minister of home affiars, people complained that he was not in exile ,those people looked after south africans who where in exile in the neighbouring countries.
Even today there are poor measures to curb influx of forei gners in the country.

Guys, I am not a fan of JZ but people seem to have selective amnesia: TM presided over a turmulous period in South Africa. Remember Travelgate scandal?, Oilgate scandal, Violence in Khutsong, Biggest public servants strike ever held in SA?, Influx of criminal foreign nationals?, Conceptualisation of e toll?, Mafia's inflitrating South Africa (Aglioti, Keeble, Selebi, who happened to be his friends?), Armsdeal (he was a president, how can you allow your deputy to sign certain papers without your consent or knowledge? and th BIGGEST of all AIDS denialism (to prove a point that he thought he was always right).
