How to find textbook culprits

Aug 1, 2012 | Mpumelelo Mkhabela | 26 comments

JUDGING by the statement issued by the ANC's national executive committee on the Limpopo textbooks saga, it's easy to believe that all those responsible for the mess will be charged.

I don't know who the ANC is trying to fool here. It is well known that Madluphuthu is responsible for the whole saga.

There are even schools in Gauteng that haven’t received textbooks yet, the
Eastern Cape Education Department was placed under administration last year,
children in Eastern Cape had to stay away from schools because there were
no teachers, SADTU and Eastern Cape Education Department saga, Almost
100 teachers in Kwazulu Natal were discovered to possess fake qualification
documents, Angie even failed to deliver books on that specific date the court
ordered her and the famous one Limpopo textbook saga. Angie Motshekga
must resign and apologies to South Africa, for failing the future of pupils
and running the department like a Spaza shop.

Gwede will not deal with the whole saga fully and satisfactorily as he knows the culprits are his comrades. The only people to suffer irreparable damage for future decades to come due to lack of education need no mentioning. Our education system is in shambles.

Verwoerd at least provided books "meant"for us, blacks and we coped with that. That is why we are able to write on this blog, be employable and earn a decent living. Wake up Mzanzi.

If we were British, the President's office would be littered with resignations from persons who would have deemed themselves responsible for this debacle. Now because we are Black and are married to witchcraft, there must now be a witch hunt.

My suggestion is: start with whoever drives in a state vehicle from the dept of basic education - fire every single one of them. Fire any education dept. official who claims they did not know about this nonsense.

If President Zuma has withdrawal symptoms about firing Angie, let the ballot (no bullet pse) assist him.

Of course, Edusolution is to blame, Angie is to blame, and all the little chiefs down. Of course, the top dawgs and edu are connected to zuma, so I will be surprised if anything will happen to them.

If it does, then the government would have set a new record. For actually punishing corrupt and incompetent ministers.

Then again, redeployment aint really a punishment.

Well politics is just another cruel game. What I do'nt undurstand is that why are we blaming the minister zisuka nje, how about looking at the paper trail and c what happened. Which campany was supposed to deliver the text books from where to where and who is responsible for that, surely the minister will have to check the final destination.

Stupid Article by the erroneous Mkhabela again.. How can he Say Mathale should take the Blame, while it was Zuma who picked up the phone to instruct The Limpopo Government to award Edusolution that lucrative tender, as directly or indirectly it has links to his fund.....
---------------------------------------------------------------

Well Mathale and his cronies cleaned out government coffers giving tenders to buddies by the time they had to buy books the money had run out. He is the first that must be shown the door but in this mess almost everyone is to blame and this so-called investigation is to identify soft targets while the real culprits keep their positions.

Are we still talking about the education department? Read the article again...... You sound like you know that Mathale gave tenders to his "cronies", were you there? Did you see them? Do you have proof of that? If so please give it to the police and lets end corruption once and for all, if not please keep your comments to yourself. In SA we have a law that we follow, we just dont wake up early in the morning and say so and so must be arrested and are corrupt. The Main culprit here is zuma, he tried to play the game by weakening Mathale before the provincial conference, he thought people would lose faith in Mathale, forgeting that you can fool some people sometimes, but you cant fool all the people all the time. Will he fire Angie? Thats the question on everyones lips

Firstly I have as much a right to express my opinion as you do, never tell me to keep my comments to myself.

Secondly if you read as much as you bark you would know that a lack of funds is central to this crisis along with other factors of course but Limpopo simply did not have money to order books.

Lastly when the tender was advertised 23 tenders were received, all but 1 of these were disqualified on the basis they did not meet the requirements leaving only EduSolutions which automatically meant they got the tender.

Moreover the contract entered into with EduSolutions contract is very suspect allowing the service providers to negotiate discounts with publishers but not obliged to pass these savings back to the department, given the On-Point model, how it operates and how money found its way into the Ratanang Trust account are you so obtuse you can't connect the dots and see this whole mess boils down to tender rigging.

I have an advise for you, until you can prove your have substance between your ears and can comment from an informed position it is best advised you do not expose your limited faculties for all to see. Clearly in your case it is a situation of common sense being so rare it should be considered a super-power.

Everyone is trying to figure out who is to blame. I'll tell you who it is. If you voted for the ANC, then go look in the mirror and you will see who you should blame. We all know the politicians are only there to make money for themselves. Some of us just still believe in their empty promises, and those voters are directly to blame for our crisis in government. No one else.

Ha Ha, Impela and Maneater have it exactly! How difficult can it be? Motshekga is responsible, but she is not alone and the whole lot of them should be sent packing - NOT with golden handshakes (as is usually the case when cadres get into trouble). I'll be willing to bet that nothing will happen. Motshekga will keep her job, zuma will look the other way and make noises about the apartheid regime, and we will be expected to pay pay pay as usual. The tragedy here is that children are going to bear the brunt of this spectacular c*ck up for years to come. Not that motshekga or any of the cadres care a damn. They are rich and untouchable, and by keeping people ignorant, they are sure to stay in power. Abraham Lincoln once said "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power". Our miserable lot have failed this test and put our entire country to shame.

Mpumelelo Mkhabela, lemme educate you a bit about continuity aka mental slavery. If you teach the teacher nonsense, he/she will continue to teach nonsense to all next generations. I will end here.

The education system and the communities of the Earth Farm teaches their siblings to strive to be better than the next person; it continues to teach them to strive to be different and never be the same with the person next to you; also, it continues to teach all of them to do anything in your POWER to beat the person next to you. I don’t know whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, you decide.

I’ll wait for you response; otherwise I’ll assume you got the point if I don’t see anything.

If you still find it very difficult to comprehend this, then maybe you are asking the wrong questions.

Does anyone think this noise is about books? Its about embarrassing each other before Mangaung. period. Who does not know that learning in this country is only 5% books based. The education has a system of spoon feeding learners from teachers notes. As long as the teachers were OK without books...it means about 95% of the methodology used was still intact....its not a good thing given that these teachers are also blank...but thats how its done here. Ask yourself why were teachers, parents (except for one who complained) queit?

As for the ANCYL...do they real think Angie is more to blame than Cassel Mathale....?? Why are they politicising children education for selfish ends..who are they serving..the young people or those ambitious who want to take over Mangaung? If the ANCYL were real for the school kids, they would have mobilised to deliver the books at no cost to the government given that they belong to the governing party...but instead they are behaving like they are members of the DA wing,,,,just because they are factionalist. The ANC they are creating will be difficult for them to manage when their time comes to rule. Even if Zuma loses Mangaung..it will be folly to bring back Malema....should they do that...then thats the begining of the end of the ANC
