A dubious parole

Jul 23, 2012 | Sowetan Editorial | 34 comments

THE negative reaction that followed the news that former national commissioner Jackie Selebi received medical parole on Friday shows South Africans are sceptical of the actions by Correctional Services after the dubious parole Schabir Shaik received in 2009.

The people leading us or that are supposed to, is just robbing us all of our dignity with their blatant lies and deseed! These are our leaders who are all liars and swindlers. They only help their own crooked comrades and family but for the man on the street they feel nothing!

We see them, we know them, we hear them but soon we will see them in jail! We need to be liberated from the liberators because they are destroying everything!

Crime in this country does pay especially when money is in the bag and you know who is who in the Govt.
Corruption to the highest level. I mentioned it to a friend that Selebi will not even stay a year in jail and she thought i was joking. Well, RSA, alive with posibilities not matter how dismal the situation is.

I find it amazing that this old man, who spent years in jail fighting apartheid, is conned by a beneficiary of apartheid in the Mafia world and sentenced to 15 years for 160000 Rand bribe. The bribe is from a well known drug and money laundering scumbag (Aglioti). He (Aglioti), still enjoys the Freedom & living large after the dismantling of this cruel system. What do Africans do? Ululate and pour praises to the system that brings us down. I don't blame Him for being ill, it is because he is really ill & the thought of spending time in jail again is adding to his suffering. He could just have been fined, resigned & used his millions from pensions to pay back this 160000. Enjoy the Freedom & wish You well.

BeeEm - Conned by a beneficiary of apartheid? You mean SOLD OUT to a European drugdealer and gangster. Your chief of police, SOLD YOU OUT, to a foreign white drug dealer and mafia boss.

And here you are, singing his praises.

You have a lot to learn about democracy, clean governance and such boet.

I would advise Malema and Zuma to also prepare their "medical reasons" as soon as possible because any time from now they might find themselves behind bars for their corruption cases.

They need to be more creative and should not use the same reasons as Yengeni, Selebi and Shaik.

Does the ANC REALLY think we're all a bunch of mushrooms (feeding us BS and keeping us in the dark) - There are reports from hospital staff that Selebi is "NOT as sick as he makes out (We know that, don't we?!) and regularly takes long walks to stretch his legs"

IF he is so ill, apparently needing 3 or 4 dialysis treatments a day, hospital is the ONLY place he can have them, with trained staff! Dialysis takes hours NOT minutes after all.

It's time to get rid of the lying bunch of self-serving scum who claim to be ensuring "a better life for all"
