I do, however, have serious problems with the fact that the party is now trying to alter a negotiated constitution generally considered to be one of the best in the world, in such a way that they will be able to change policy at will, with no recourse available to the people. And if the "secrecy bill" ever happens, even without oversight into it happening. It is important to be precise when challenging. And another thing: the current bunch at the helm were not even around when ANC policy was established. The situation in our country needs special intervention by challenging political parties. DA and co must stop the blaming game and come out clear to the electorate, describe and explain their ideology, in a transparent manner. They have to improve their canvasing strategies to suit the lower level of voters.
They have a big task of convincing the huge number of voters that they are not (as perceived) the party for the whi_te minority. Less than 5% can access these forums and internet at large.

So don't try that stunt with me. I know many brilliant people who have not had the educational privilegs I had, but who have risen to great heights and no qualms from me at all. I blame Zuma for being arrogant, for making our country look like a haven of chauvinistic nincompoops with not a single care for the people, and for being indecisive at critical points. Obviously I can't answer your closing question, but it isn't even vaguely relevant. Sure, I agree, removal of Zuma will only remove on symptom, but advisers are appointed by the president, NOT by the party, so get rid of him and a new set of (probably equally ill-advised) opportunists will take their places. I'm yet to find out these "blunders and his sheer arrogance" except his education and his cultural practices. We live in a very diverse country where some promotes polygamy and some promotes homosexuality etc. Soon we will have homosexual president and some will blame it, and some will accept it.
We are yet to draw a line as a community between personal/private life and public life. We always look at how the western world will perceive us with such a polygamist president, but these countries have self-confessed homosexuals ministers and premiers.
Of course we have a big challenge in service delivery and corruption but that can not be rested solely to the president, but rather to the Government as a whole. There are semi-clean provinces like WC and KZN where there are few cases of corruption, it is not that everything is bad. Report Abuse

Consultation is one thing, avoiding responsibility is something different altogether.
If you have 20 people in a room, your chances of getting 100% consensus is virtually zero. You have to have someone who is willing to give the direction and pull the others along with him. There is no way that you can talk for 10 years about what to do with the EC school situation and then expect it to work. The ANC as a party is in crisis.
Rising as a socialist non racist movement it has now become a tyrant leader of corruption.
That what happened with Mbeki. You can provide guidance but in the same time you have to be guided. Ideas of 20 people are better than that of one individual.
I say it again that in more than 100 senior leaders in Govt, we can't solely blame Zuma for each an every unfixed toilet or not working adult. 'We all have a responsibility to fix our problems and those of our country, especially those in Govt.
As a govt employee myself, I put it on my shoulders that each and every person entering my office for help, receive the greatest of attention and probably the solution. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Oh, what kind of desperation is this? Jacob Zuma is going down, down, down!!! You do not do the kind of things that Jacob Zuma has done to the ANC Youth League and get away with it. It may not be very clear now, but by the second half of this year it will be very clear that young people in the ANCare determined to kick out our honourable but notorious polygamist. As things stand, people are very polite but the right time is coming when people will speak freely about their leadership preferences and Jacob Zuma will hardly feature. I hope they are going to give him a dignified exit and not throw him in jail.
As for Cyril Ramaphosa, I thought he had a good chance of taking over from Nelson Mandela what sank him was trying to dictate to ANC Youth League President Peter Mokaba and ANC Women's League President Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. The two later came out in favour f Thabo Mbeki, and with the benefit of hindsight it was the correct decision. I love Ctril but surely he should know that a shrewd politician will not want to be seen bidding for a R20m buffalo when most of our people are living in grinding and abject poverty. Imagine the hypocritical hysteria if it were Julius Malema doingthat. But in any case the Malema disciplinary hearimg is going to explode in Cyril Ramaphosa's face and once more the ANC Youth League, the Young Lions, are going to sink his ambitions again. My personal view is that Ramaphosa is overrated and has very little to offer South Africa, except his own strong presidential ambition. Mkhuluwa (Motlanthe) is dignified and rises above political factions and will definitely unite the ANC. Even the rationale for COPE's existence will not exist and the majority of COPE voters will come back to the ANC. Kgalema Motlanthe for President in Mangaung, followed by Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. That is the Zuma we shoud have had in the first place. Motlanthe will serve one term but contniue as president of the ANC in 2017 but with Nkosazana serving as president of the country. Report Abuse

SA is not as classy as most of middle and high class of people believe, 60% of people are still living in dark ages.

Xovizwe: Again, you put words in my mouth. What is it with you? I have NEVER slated him for a lack of education, but indeed for his many many blunders and his sheer arrogance. ANd with the greatest of respect, this all has absolutely nothing to do with apartheid, evil as it was. Now don't try to trip me on words YOU presume to put in my mouth.Report Abuse

RobinHI'm yet to find out these "blunders and his sheer arrogance" except his education and his cultural practices.

RobinHyou are trying hard , first you need to understand politics or political games and anc , the anc is unlike DA , the anc is driven by human relations , and democratic principles whereas DA is driven by fascism and totalitarianism , these two institutions are nt jellying , so , my point is dont impose DA agenda/principles in the ANC.
Plse emain with DA you are good there dont come with anger to influence anc, the anc isnt ruled with iron fists , no thanks

Xovizwe: I think we may be heading toward understanding one another, if not toward agreement. Politics is like religion. Both are really based on belief and very l;ittle else, so neither are really open to reasoned decisions. I have a real problem with making decisions based on political allegiance, as I consider a politician to be about as stable as a tumbleweed in a gale. Shall we leave it at that? I need to log off soon, and don't wish to argue with someone who is reasonable, even if we don't share the same political approach.Report Abuse

Assumptions are that, Zuma's challenger in Mangaung will be Motlante. Judging from his short spell as care-taker president, one would wonder if there will be any turn-around strategy he brings with him. The ever-quiet Motlante is not suitable, I would rather go for Ramaphosa, Manuel or Nkosazana Zuma. However, without being bias, I'm not yet seeing any challenger who will be able to defeat Zuma in Mangaung, Mbeki was a far tougher candidate in Polokwane.

XovizweConsultation is one thing, avoiding responsibility is something different altogether.
If you have 20 people in a room, your chances of getting 100% consensus is virtually zero. You have to have someone who is willing to give the direction and pull the others along with him. There is no way that you can talk for 10 years about what to do with the EC school situation and then expect it to work. There is also no way that you can appoint a minister on popularity and expect a professional result.

MommaCThat what happened with Mbeki.
I will confront even the highest office to make sure that my fellow citizen get help. That is what we do in KZN, setting an example for provinces like EC and Limpopo.

XovizweNobody is blaming Zuma for an unfixed toilet in the Vrystaat. What people expect is that the MEC in Vrystaat is being correctly overseen by the Minister in parliament who is, in turn, being held accountable by Zuma.
At some stage, the guy at the top has to put his foot down and insist that those below him do their jobs. That is not a committee decision and that should not be negotiable.
