I think Sowetan asked that the public hold a debate in letter form on leadership, they even linked an e-mail address to send your views on it, so stop commenting on what you think should be published and comment on what is being published, NB did you submit your letter, Prince Mashele did and so did Jackson Mthembu.

"On Monday, Sowetan launched a debate about political leadership in South Africa. The debate began by critically assessing the leadership of President Jacob Zuma.

Top political commentators and analysts are participating in the debate as it progresses, so keep an eye on the paper to read what they have to say.

Our readers will be able to join the debate, by emailing tellus@sowetan.co.za. The best letters may be considered for publication."

ANC made a Big blunder by putting him up there. He does not belong there. Look how childishly he marveled at Malema and the youth Legue re-calling Mr Mbeki. Yes little or Non- education can be dangerous, Zuma is a Danger to the ANC and to the Country at large. Right now DA is going to win the General election come 2014, they have started champaining and the very same ANC with Zuma at the head is still fighting within itself, self destruction. By the time they are finished with Malema, all wise members would have gone to DA. Wake up ANC, before is too late, if is not late already.

People like Mashele are a not fit to be given a platform to articulate their "raw Western ideas". They mislead our societies by thinking that as long you have degrees it means you are educated. In short Mashele is not educated but he has degrees ( which are useless to the advancement of this country). Like manya Blacks he is bitter that his degrees did not make him and will never make him a president or prominent member of this society. Mos Blacks are jeolousy they thought education will allow them to be better than other Blacks. He is disappointed to the reality that degrees alone won't make you to be a recognized citizen but the masses (people) will do.

Lets have no illussion,Zuma is the worst the ANC has ever had.His lack of education has allowed him to be manipulated by fraudsters such as Shaik. He is uneasy and does not trust even people who put him into power.Like other dictators, wants to cling into power at all cost.He accepted an intelligent report compiled by Mdluli(wrongly appointed by him and his cohorts).Mdluli is the SAPS intelligent Head ,his work is to gather crime intellegent not ANC leadership battle.Under Zuma service delivery protest have reached an alarming propotion and he has no answer because he appointed vultures such as Mpumalanga DD Mabuza who is plundering and looting resources.Mthembu is not mentioning that under Zuma, the ANC lost many votes. The man is a monumental disgrace

Mr. Mashele is a pathetic excuse for an intellectual. His comments lacked in depth and clarity and were a 3D display of the hatred and bias he harbours for the ANC and Mr. Zuma in particular. His definition of education in not only uneducated but is at worst narrow minded.

Certified intellectuals like him have had a devastating impact on civilisation. Look at Uncle Bob next door, hailed as the one of the most educted leaders in the world, but look at the state of Zimbabwe. The Greeks are hailed for their intellectualism but more recently the country is barely able to sustain itself. Hitler was an intelectual, according to Mashele' definition, but he was power drunk and plunged humanity into the WW2 crisis.

Zuma may not be certified but he kept the ANC intact as head of intelligence, a position which endangered his very life. Zuma has also wisdom of the ages... To put it mildly Mashele must just shelve his views where the sun doesnt shine

Most of us are no different from Jackson through our comments on this blog. My appeal to all of us is to stick to debate principles and norms. This will not only improve our debating skills (including Jackson and ANC faithfuls) but also enlighten other who may have missed the content of an article or subject.

Having read the article 'The worst shall govern by Prince Mashele'; the Radio interview he (Prince) had on Metro FM; and the response by Jackson, Prince was analytical, basing his argument on facts about Zuma and the ANC. When articulating Zuma's credentials, he then subjected him against leadership. He then conculuded that given his credentials, Zuma is the worst leader the ANC has ever had. Again, he preambled his article very well. He carefully chose the topic for his article. It conforms to academic research writing requirements.

If i were to qualify Jackson's article, it is way below analytical; it lacks logic and it is rigid. He is just emotional as always. The other unfornunate shortfall from Jackson's part is that he has to agree with Prince Zuma's credentials before crafting his analogy otherwise. That would have been a blatant disobedience of the Master. That is why he had to be heard than to debate.

It is not an insult to reach a conclusion that says 'His lack of vocabulary and good moral standing make him the worst Secretory General the University has ever had'. I also urge politicians to restrict political lingo to political events. Most ANC faithfuls accused Prince of been narrow in his article. Had he widen his argument, he would have deviated from his topic. I cannot expect that from him. Also, that Zuma has gruaduted from the University of the People in non sense. There is no such University in the world. Maybe in the ANC.

@Sowetan,
You did not see it fit for the bloggers to comment on Mashele's article, and yet today you are allowing the same bloggers to in_sult the national spokesperson of the ANC who is responding directly to the same article. Maar why so much bias and selectivity? You honestly believe Mashele deserves protection from the bloggers, something that in your mind deserves to be unleashed on the honourable national leader of the ANC. Where is fairness Mr Mkhabela? History will judge you.

We can see through your dangerous agenda. No wonder the ANC is hellbent on curbing the abuse of the freedom of speech which is so rampant in the print media.

Y'ou portray yo'ur'self as an an'alytical person in your defence of Prince Ma'shele. But yo'ur ha'tred of Zu'ma comes through throu'ghout your com'ment. You are a just a pra'ise singer of Mashele for the rea'sons that only yo'urself know. I r'ed the sa'me article and to a large extent I came to the sa'me con'clusion as Mr Mthembu.

Those who did not know Pri'nce Ma'shele, he is a Mb'eki di'e hard foll'ower and admirer. He has never forgiven Zu'ma for the way Mb'eki was de'feated. To make ma'tters worse, he was b'itterly dis'sap'pointed by CO'PE's gi'm'micks and fai'lures. After its formation, he th'ought CO'PE would teach Zu'ma and the current ANC a le'sson. I can still r'ecall one of the interviews he conducted on one of the radio st'ations when CO'PE was launching itself. The g'uy just could not hide his ex'citement. In end he and the likes of Ba'rney Pit'yana were left bit'terly dis'sap'pointed when COPE proved to be a ci'rcus in the months that followed. He eventually rea'lised the only way to get back at Zu'ma and to a limited extent the cur'rent leadership is through a b'ar'rage of his de'm'eaning in_s'ults directed at them when granted an opp'ortunity by the media or Zu'ma's en'em'ies. Since then, he has been recycling the same old gar'b'age from time to time everytime his fri'ends give him the platform and opp'ortunity to do so.

Who d'oes not know Z'uma has no for'mal edu'cation, comes from the rur'al area and has ques'tion'able m'or'al'ity ema'nating from his love for wo'men and a's_sociation with S'chabir S'heik? What is wrong about coming from the rural areas and a'scending to the highest th'rone in the land. This M'ashele is just a bitter loser with the so're heart of a w_itch. He is bit'ter that despite "all his degrees" and his urb'anitariasm (excuse me for my spelling I'm trying to sound like an intel'lectual in Prince's mode), he will never ac'hieve even half of what Zu'ma could. The same fo'_ol has the au'dacity to in_sult the people from the rural areas. Who really does this Limp'opo m'o_nk'ey think he is?
Lastly, if one were to remove Zuma from the national scene, people like Ma'shele will become ir'relevant.... ask me why?

I agree with the writer as there has been education before universities. Universities are just there to bring a systematic approach to way of acquiring education. Zuma he is educated and some of his model of life, if jotted down, can be classified as one among many leadership models.
