Mugabe - traitor against Africans

Nov 29, 2011 | William Mpofu | 35 comments

FAR from the glossy image of himself as a gallant Pan-Africanist and brave defender of black economic and political rights that Robert Mugabe has sold to the world, a close scrutiny of his political record shows how he has served British economic and political interests in Zimbabwe and Africa at large with an ear-to-ear smile.

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe

Calling Mugabe a gallant Pan-Africanist who is committed to black economic empowerment is as true as claiming Osama bin Laden was an Anglican bishop.

So sad this is, because many young revolutionaries throughout Africa, including the brave Julius Malema, have exalted the name of Mugabe as a revolutionary role model of the calibre of Patrice Lumumba, while in reality he is a wrong model of the likes of Idi Amin and Moise Tshombe - a venal dictator and conspirator against African interests by night who by day masquerades as an African liberator of messianic extents.

The violent and chaotic land reform project that has been sold around as evidence of Mugabe's loyalty to black empowerment principles because it involved taking land from white farmers and giving it to blacks, was carried out in panic after Mugabe and his Zanu-PF party were rejected by the people in a constitutional referendum in 2000.

The seized land became a fat bribe with which Mugabe sought to buy back the political favour of the peasants who had resoundingly forsaken him and his party.

When his political position was not threatened Mugabe was happy to protect British farms, mines and factories in Zimbabwe.

For looking after their economic interests, the whites in Zimbabwe supported Mugabe and his party financially and politically. In the thickness of the Gururahundi genocide in 1985, which left 40000 Matebeles dead, Jim Sinclair, the then president of the white commercial farmers union, said the genocide was "justified", as the government of Mugabe had a "legitimate right to rule the country as it saw fit".

At the same time, asked by the BBC Panorama stringers for comment, British deputy high commissioner Roger Martin defended Mugabe's ethnic cleansing as "comprehensible, it has a certain rationality other than mere brutishness", he said.

The symbiotic relationship between Mugabe and the British did not end with rhetorical support and money changing hands, but it extended to royal endorsement for Mugabe and his policies.

In 1994 the queen of England invited Mugabe to England's Buckingham Palace and Knighted him with the Order of Bath when Mugabe's hands were still dripping with the blood of black civilians slaughtered in the Gukurahundi genocide.

British mining magnate and media mogul Tiny Roland, whose disused mine in Bhalagwe, Matabeleland South, was turned by Mugabe into a huge mass grave, was splashing money on Mugabe and Zanu-PF.

So generous was Roland to Zanu-PF in gratitude for mining rights and other fat business concessions that he fired a journalist, Donald Trafford, from his newspaper in England for reporting on Gukurahundi as a crime against humanity.

Only in the year 2000, when the British turned around to support the new MDC party and Morgan Tsvangirai, a former Mugabe stalwart, did Mugabe start seizing white-owned farms, mines, factories and other businesses British nationals and whites to fix them for turning against him and his party that had looked after their interests so well. It was for political expediency, not principle, as we are told.

At about the same time, the war veterans of Zimbabwe's liberation were clamouring for compensation for their war troubles and injuries and threatening to align with the ZCTU labour movement to topple Mugabe once and for all.

Mugabe paid them off and turned them into his private reserve army which he used to punish the whites and MDC supporters in a storm of political violence.

It was only then, when whites began to be killed by Mugabe's mobs that the British began to condemn Mugabe for human rights abuses and to impose travel and economic sanctions on him and his comrades.

Clearly, both Mugabe and the British are partners in crimes against the people of Zimbabwe and not the enemies they present themselves.

Even more hypocritical is the pretence by Mugabe that he is a courageous son of Africa whose life is dedicated to fighting imperialism and defending black economic and political rights.

It's true he spent 11 years behind the bars of a Rhodesian prison for his contribution to the liberation struggle in Zimbabwe, but he turned around and conspired with the British against Zimbabweans and with their support committed genocide and ethnic cleansing.

When Cecil John Rhodes and his pioneers landed in Zimbabwe, for the mineral wealth of the land, its scenic beauty, sunshine and fertility, he named it "the jewel of Africa" and pronounced that "natives must never be allowed to govern their own affairs because they will finish each other off".

Many decades later Ian Smith was to vow that "never in a thousand years will black majority rule happen" in Zimbabwe, then Rhodesia.

By committing genocide, turning violence into an arm of government and terror into a national policy, Mugabe has given truth to Rhodes's unfortunate and false prophecy about the blacks and primitive resort to violence and cruelty.

By refusing to leave office after being defeated in elections and ensuring that his party - which is now an unpopular minority - remains in power by force, Mugabe fulfils Smith's racist statement that black majority rule will never in a thousand years happen in Zimbabwe.

In true history, Mugabe will go down the annals of posterity as the man who reduced a country that was the breadbasket of Africa to a basket case of poverty, disease and pestilence, whose citizens are now scattered throughout the globe as political and economic refugees.

Calling Mugabe a gallant Pan-Africanist who is committed to black economic empowerment is as true as claiming Osama bin Laden was an Anglican bishop.

Mugabe is a traitor. He sided with the British to have Josiah Tongogara killled. He could have become the president. The British had him assassinated to usher in Mugabe who was way down the ladder. Tongogara and Nkomo were the true liberation fighters who were supposed to lead the new Zimbabwe. Soon after independence, Mugabe was hailed by Thatcher as 'the greatest statesman in the whole of Africa". They even knighted him. I agree with the writer, all the hullabaloo is sour grapes. It is however, a lesson that African leaders should take. That the pale devils, when they hold your hand to walk you a mile, they will take you half way, dump you in the wilderness to save your own a*****. Mugabe is still fond of Thatcher and John Major, he was so excited to see a conservative government winning the last elections/erections(whichever way suits you) Unfortunately, Britain is so over him.

It is also a fact that when Mugabe massacred people from Matabeleland he was being funded by the British and the North Koreans. Shouldnt someone be prosecuted for this? What happened to the commission of enquiry reports that were compiled at the time.
We urge all people from Mthwakazi to join hands and fight these Mashonaland devils. We need war, to restore justice in our land Mthwakazi(Matebeleland).

Hahahaha. Erections. Well Mugabe killed but lets look at it like this. Was Mugabe aligned to Communist Russia? No. Thats why the West had to support him and make him an angel without wings. Bottomline those nations need representatives in the globe for leaders. They do not care about the general population. Look from Cape to Cairo, which African leader has really deliver on the aspirations of its people, from the day they earned freedom. Nope. We are all taught the devilish of the West and all that when they fail, but hey USA was colonised by UK and Spain, today they superpower. So lets stop looking at leaders who think of themselves and build ourlives maybe we will be somewhere. The history of colonialism and aparthied wont take us anywhere.

Mugabe is the reason why Zim families are broken and spread all over the world facing abuse. For that he should be judged harshly.

This article is straight to the point.

The real losers in this sick debacle is the people of Zim who as the bloggers have mentioned are scattered all over the world as second class citizens.

Mugabe is more like any other African dictator planted by the Imperialists and as long as they fed his selfish lifestyle together with his cronies all was well. When the people of Zim wanted real change he basically brutally challenged any decent. The people of Zim must wake up and forge yet another revolution just like the Arab Spring.

There will be blood shed no doubt but for 30 years Zimbos thought they were freee post 1980 but the real truth is that they where nothing more than processed food for Britain.

Just look at how many Zimbos are in UK after the Zim dollar crashed? Its a pity that they all ran to their former colonial masters just to get jobs cleaning the streets and working in restaurants.

Today's summon: Strive for the truth (2Tim 4:1-5)

From verse 1 and 2, we hear Paul instructing Timothy to preach the Word. Timothy was youth in that time and Paul was encouraging Timothy to continue preaching the Word despite his age. People used to judge preachers based on their appearence, origin, and etc. Remember Jesus Christ was despised because of his place of birth, and his origin.

Paul said he must be prepared in season and out of season. My question is how many of you are striving to share the Word? Do you do that on Sunday in church only?
We must correct, rebuke, and encourage with the Word of God, but with great patience and carefull instructions

Verse 3 warns about the time which is coming when people will distance themselves with sound doctrine. And that time is nowadays. People are distancing themselves from the TRUTH, they want to hear what suit them. They want to hear what their iching hears are longing to hear. They'll rather entertain foolish talks, vulgars, sex and prostitution, and etc.
They wanted to tell preachers what to say and not what to say. They are not ashamed to tell preachers that when you preach don't include adulters, fornicators, liars, bribe, gossip, etc because they know it is what they are doing. In other words you hurt them.

They will quickly turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to listen to useless stories. If any blogger can engage any foolish talk they will all assemble to his/her story.

But he said to Timothy: "Keep you head high in all situations". And that is what we must do. Be careful of people who provoke intentionally.

We must fight a good fight of faith so that the crown which Paul was longing will be given to us as well on that day.

Let's pray
Lord Jesus, I thank you for the Word, teachings, and understanding
I pray for all to strive to share the Word, live it and live with it
I also pray for double minded Christians to stay steady in your Word.
I pray for those inspired by the Word I share to be blessed in Jesus' name

Amen

My goodness , pls people don't look far up north in Zimbabwe just take a look at us here in South Africa. The same thing is happening with the ANC being a security officer for booers and this time around for Chinese also. We're heading into the same disaster the people of Zimbabwe experienced in many years. As I said before , the freedom we think we have is not freedom but a mirage or a figment of our imagination. Yes it's true Black Man You're on your Own. The wool had been pulled over our eyes , deceived and lied to for the past 17yrs and things are getting worse. Wake up black people this is not freedom but lies , let's not follow in the foot steps of Zimbabwe. This panty we've been wearing for the past 17yrs is stinking and dirty it time to rip it off throw it in the bin , it's disgusting and embarrassing us. This is the ANC I am talking about, let's try other black parties like PAC and others.

@Blake: I am a Shona Man. And proud to be one. I do not condone what Mugabe did, as with the majority of my fellow Shonas. I also feel sorry for what the Ndebeles went through during Gukurahundi. I was too young anyway to know what exactly happened. What I will disagree with you is for you to think that you can right a wrong by another wrong. Fighting Shonas will never be a solution, it may even lead to worse experiences for your tribe that you think you will be defending. There were Ndebeles in the positions of leadership during that period. Nkala was the minister responsible (so I am told). Before i finish, let me remind you that Mtwakazi will remain a pressure group forever, with no effect or relevance. Zimbabwe will never be divided. The energy that you spend fighting for a separate state in our country could be better served in trying to convince the Zulus into taking you back to the land of your ancestors.

the writer is a demented observer of the africa scene. whilst i principally agree, with his diatribe agaist both mugabe and britain, specifically his contention that mugabe IS NOT a pan-africanist, on another article the writer betrays shocking double-standards when analysing another charlatan, malema. he says, for example, malema's "most important political discourse has been criminalised"! well, which one exactly, which law has been passed or which court decision has been made which make this so-called discourse illegal or crimminal?
malema, just like mugabe, only cares enriching himself. can any sensible person believe that had malema not been a leader of the ancyl, with his very poor matric marks, his lack of professional or technical training, would have won tenders amounting to millions of rand in a FAIR tender contest? the only reason why malema is rich is because of corruption. now, you are either against corruption or you are not. we cannot run a civilised state if we tolerate corruption. it undermines the integrity of the state. it steals from the the poor. eventually we'll have no economy to speak of. we would have destroyed the future of our children. our trully great leaders sobukwe, lembede, biko, mandela all these men were never accused of stealing money from the poor. not a cent. the choice which we have to make is whether we depart from the example they've set or we live by it.
