Another real stinker

The DA's open secret at Khayelitsha caused halitosis when it made headlines. And so too does the ANC's toilets in the Free State

LIKE the DA's in Cape Town the ANC's open toilets in Viljoenskroon stink.

We know that DA leader Helen Zille would never relieve herself in an open toilet.

We can't imagine ANC executive Lindiwe Sisulu doing it either.

We repeat that the DA's open secret at Khayelitsha caused halitosis when it made headlines. And so too does the ANC's toilets in the Free State.

It is a serious indictment of our politicians. Our so-called leaders get away with murder.

The ANC was moved to stop the pollution in Khayelitsha but in spite of the Human Rights Commission's scathing ruling against the DA they still show how detached they are from the people of Rammulotsi.

The less said about the "we did not know" comment by ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu the better. For God's sake, the eyesores were erected by ANC councillors in 2004.

It is not surprising that the executive mayor could not even comment, referring questions to service manager Mike Lelaka. The latter had the gall to tell the Sunday Times that they did not have the money to enclose those stinkers.

Really, Mr Lelaka? You could not raise R7 million over seven years? Tell it to the birds.

Those things are dehumanising. They literally strip whoever is using them of human dignity.

Remember, so infuriated was the ruling party that the ANC Youth League threatened to sue the Cape Town city council on behalf of the residents.

Like the DA, the ANC has surely been hoist with the petard of its own impetuosity.
